Erbs
Palsy is the term used for the different paralyses to
the arms. Depending on the area of the arm that the
paralysis has occurred it will determine the type of
Erbs Palsy. Made up of three main categories, Erbs Palsy
is caused by a birth trauma. Erbs Palsy babies experience
injury to one or more nerves of the brachial plexus.
Sometimes
referred to as brachial plexus, common Erbs Palsy
symptoms include a limp or paralyzed arm, decreased
arm muscle control, and decreased arm or hand sensations.
The Erbs Palsy injuries can eliminate the ability
to make certain movements within the Erbs Palsy patient.
The majority of babies with Erbs Palsy will recover
within the first three months, but a fifth of all
Erbs Palsy sufferers will have permanent residual
paralysis.
